These are tired eyes. Eyes that need to close and sleep, but won’t until he loses the fight. What makes it so hard for babies to go to sleep? They kick and squirm until finally they give up. Some days, I feel like all I do is bounce. I can’t stop bouncing until he is fast asleep. I am now realizing why my legs are getting so toned. They are in constant motion. Once asleep, I lay him down, sometimes with success. Other times, he is like those baby dolls that have the eyes that close when you lay them down. Only he is the complete opposite. I lay him down and his eyes pop open. What’s up with that?
As adults, if we are tired, there is definitely no fighting going on. If I am able to lay down at any moment like a baby, then I totally would take advantage of that. I understand why toddlers fight it. All they can think about is playing and toys. Their imaginations run wild, and they can barely sit still for one second. They fight, so they can play. But, a baby, just let it go and sleep. Come on.
