October, already? Where did September go?

This morning was chilly, and I noticed frost on our flag outside. Seemed like a typical October morning. My feet felt pangs as I walked across the tiles of our sunroom, and I quickly started my coffee.

I love fall, and wish it would stick around a little longer, and winter could just come and go like summer did this year.

I feel a thrill over lightweight coats, cute hats, and brightly colored scarves. Cardigans and knee high boots come out of hiding. Sweatshirts and long sleeve thermals weigh down hangers in my boy’s closets. And, of course, what would fall be without hunting season? The crunching of leaves and breaking of twigs under foot as you walk silently to your tree stand before day break.

Pumpkins and mums grace my front porch. I know in only a short time, the rust colors and warmth of the mums will be no more, and chilly white snow will blanket our yard.

I want to make the most of this crisp weather and take walks while we still can, admire fire orange leaves,  carve pumpkins, and have an occasional bonfire. Hoping that it doesn’t fly by this year, but knowing it will. Wishing you a happy leaf crunching season.
