This week I thought it’d be fun to walk you through our old house. We bought a little starter house before we got married {of course I didn’t live there until after we were married}. I was only 19 when we got married, and I sure had fun making this little starter house into our home.

Today I thought I’d start with the living room.

As you can tell, I was very much into the indie/Pier 1 look. It kind of makes me smile when I look around at my new surroundings and realize how much my style has evolved.  The little corner to the right of the sofa housed most of Jaxon’s toys. This house was only around 1,100 sq. ft., so we had to make the room work for us.

I opened up my first credit card ever, so that I could buy this cabinet from Pier 1. I had it paid off before I even got married. Oh the easy life of stilling living with your parents. Remember those days when your parents were the ones trying to make ends meet, and you had a box full of babysitting money that you had saved for months, and wow it had almost $200 in it, and that could really be useful at some point? Now $200 won’t even be enough for one car payment, let alone two.

I apparently thought I could never have enough pillows.

When I look at the accessories and furniture in these pictures, it all really means a lot to me. I feel like every piece had a story, because it was all so exciting. It makes me realize that I’ve gotten to a point where maybe I’m not as grateful as I should be for what I’ve been able to purchase for this house. Hmm….something to think about.

My first picture with Jaxon in this living room.

{my shirt was a little low, so I opted to erase that area altogether. you’re welcome. :)}

I hope you’ll stick with me this week as we walk through my first house together. I’m excited to have it documented on here, so that I can easily look back at it. Lots of memories flooding back today. Do you have fond memories of your first house?

    What a sweet memory…I still drive by our first house every time we go to South Bend, loved that little house, it was simple and it was the best looking one on the block :-) Not to mention we brought both of our baby girls home from the hospital to that house which really makes the memories priceless! With it only being 2 bedrooms, 1 living room it made cleaning a once a week thing unlike now cleaning and yard work are a never ending task!!! It will be fun to follow you down memory lane this week.

    Enjoy your week!

    We’re living in our first house. ;) We were still in college when we got married, so we lived in a tiny apartment for a year and a half. We were 22 and 23 when we bought the home we live in now. I had NO clue what my design style was, so I unfortunately chose a bunch of country-ish pieces that reminded me of the home I grew up in. Not my taste anymore, but I am stuck with some of it b/c furniture is expensive. ;)

    I love your pillows!
