One year ago today, our little Carter was born.
I love remembering those first few moments when you come to the realization that you are now responsible for another human being.
And that moment when your new little one is all cleaned up, and you can just hold and stare. Hold and stare.
You finally get them home, where you can truly just bask in their beauty without a million hovering nurses.
{Easter Sunday}
You realize that four is so much better than three.
{No children were harmed in the taking of this photo.}
And that every child needs a sibling.
You quickly learn how hard it is to get not one, but two children to cooperate for a picture.
I love the moment when they go from newborn to a little more fatty and filled out. You don’t see it coming, but all of sudden, they’re these little people with their own silly little personalities.
I learned a lot more about baby-wearing this time around.

Sorry for the blurriness of this photo.
This is the method I use now.
And basically, your kiddo will just grow
And grow, without any warning at all.
And pretty soon, you’ll be wishing your tooth filled, long haired baby a very Happy Birthday as well.
So, to my sweet little Carter, you have made this past year so delightful. I can’t imagine life without you. I can’t wait to see you begin to walk soon and start jabbering, but for today, I just want to focus on this past year, and all of the feats you have already accomplished. Thank you my boy for being you. And thank you God, for giving us this tender hearted boy.
We love you! Happy 1st Birthday!
{I actually finished a couple of crafts this weekend that will be posted in the next few days. Stay posted b/c you’ll want to make them too.}
