This morning we are swimming in presents over here. We finished our seventh Christmas yesterday, and the boys really seem to have gotten spoiled. My goal was to stay on top of each Christmas this year by putting away the gifts from the previous before going to the next, but there was just not enough time.
I am thankful that we started the three present rule this year for our kids. I learned about this at MOPS and thought it was just the best idea. The concept is that the wise men brought three gifts to Jesus, so each child’s gifts represent those. One gift is a huge want (this would be the gold), the next is a type of activity, and the last is something that they need. Jaxon got a bike for his want, the Operation game for his activity, and knee pads and a helmet for his need.
This keeps things fair, and your children know what to expect every year. I just love it. I tried to find an article regarding this concept and more of the details, but was unsuccessful.
This week, I am going to feature the gifts that I waited until the last minute to make this year. I have learned my lesson. Next year, I will start so much earlier.
Gift #1: Magnets
I am a lover of scrapbook paper, so this is a fun little project. This is super super simple. The supplies are pretty obvious. The hard part was figuring out how to get everything to adhere and still look nice. I used mod podge to affix the paper to the stones. Then, I used a hot glue gun to adhere the stone to the magnet. I don’t think that this is the best way to do it, because some of the magnets and stones had separated the next morning. I’m sure a craft store would have something better.
These would be fun to have on hand and give to a friend when they need a little pick me up or for no reason at all.
Alright, time to work on this house. Check back in tomorrow for gift #2.
