Lessons From a 3 Year Old

Jaxon slept in late yesterday morning. Late, as in, 8:30, late. I was glad he was probably getting some much needed rest. Little did I know, he was in his room praying. As my little curly top entered the living room, he announced, that he was praying to God for a new fan from Walmart. Funny, because his fan isn’t working, but I had no idea that he wanted one so badly.

His little sentence made me wonder what his thoughts on God are. What does he think we’re talking about? Who is God, he must wonder, and when is He coming over for dinner? He doesn’t argue or make it more complicated, something us adults do way too often. He just believes. He prays like he knows, when we sit down for dinner. Praying like any adult would, he thanks God for the day, food, and family. Occasionally, Marty and I peek at each other through squinted eyes and smile, because we love our boy, and we love our God.

His faith puts my faith to shame. Is this that child-like faith that everyone mentions? I need this faith. I want this faith.

He has this faith.

Here’s a prime example. He knows that his dad will catch him.

Just like I know that my Heavenly Father will catch me if I fall.

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

Have you ever looked up “faith” in your concordance? There are a plethora of verses. It must be kindof important, huh?

Awesome post Erin, we need these reminders! We were talking about having faith like a child at Bible Study this week, God must be trying to tell me something :)

    So sweet.

Last night after a really horrible bath time/bed time, I heard a little rustling in Nora’s room, so I crept back into her room to see if she was asleep. I found her sound asleep with her little Gideon’s bible laying beside her head. She’d gotten up to get it and sleep with it just after our prayer time. God’s word is so “concrete” to them.
