I started practicing this about a month ago, and it really changed my perspective on my life. I try to do this every time I do my devotions. I am not going to say every day, because I am a slacker and don’t do my devotions every day. I do it frequently, so I only write down 5 every time. Here are some excerpts from my journal.
Thankful for:
a healthy 2 month old baby
the rain, so the flowers can grow
the fact that Jaxon will still cuddle
the fact that I am sleep deprived b/c my son is healthy and needs to eat during the night
Jaxon and Marty’s relationship
I like doing this because it makes me think a little harder about what I am so lucky to have. I could just write the obvious every day, but that would defeat the purpose. This helps me search through my life at the moment and define the small things in life that I can be thankful for. Turning the not so great things into “thankful for” items can really change your perspective on them. For example, me realizing why I am sleep deprived makes it a little easier to get up at 2 am.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18
