Being inspired by laundry is an odd thought. I know. Maybe this is a bit less “inspired by” and a little more “in need of.” Either way, I’m going to talk a bit, so just grab a coffee and stay awhile.

Some of you gals are all into the chickens right now. I like the thought. Or rather, I like the thought of an adorable chicken coop sitting on our 2.5 acres.

It’s the whole part about the chickens that gives me the heeby jeeby’s. But this post isn’t about chicken’s, is it? Back to the laundry line. I want to be more green and eco friendly, so I’ve been having little chats with hubby here and there about a clothes line. There’s something about seeing clothes flapping in the wind that sends my heart a flutter.

And, there’s the whole environmentally friendly thing too. Of course.

Then, there’s dreamy pictures like this that make laundry look so appealing.

I realize clotheslines can be a bit of an eye sore. This clothes line would be sure to turn heads.

I think we’d go for something a bit more simple.

Oh, and what about clothes pins? I imagine I’d end up with the dollar store set of 40, but here’s some pretties just for fun.

These vintage clips would send me into a domestic flurry. I imagine myself with a ruffly apron and loads of calico sheets fluttering around my backyard. A few stray curls falling from my loose up-do. Reality check, I don’t have any calico sheets or a ruffly apron, and I only have a few wavy strands of hair. It was a fun ride though. No?

An adorable peg bag couldn’t make me more happy.

Alright, I’m off to sneak over to the neighbors and hang up a couple pair of jeans. I’ll stand back and smile, then snatch them up and run for the hills before the neighbors catch me.

P.S. I’m not sure, but maybe my hubby is trying to save me from a situation such as this.

Some days around here can get a bit hairy. Maybe I better stick to the vintage pins.

My in-laws have chickens, so I get to benefit from fresh eggs, but I don’t know that I’d want chickens b/c they are DIRTY. Blech. The coop picture is pretty, but if that were next to my house I’d probably have a breakdown.

I am one of the most un-green people around I guess. I wouldn’t mind hanging sheets out to dry, but no one needs to see my underpants out there. I might give my neighbors nightmares.

Thanks for this fun post. It reminded me of my years growing up in the South where we always hung our laundry out to dry (and it was often on my list of chores to put out or take down. It’s funny how something that was a drudgery now seems so quaint and nostalgic!

I love the tree shaped clothes line poles. They are pretty hard to find anything like that. I dry every thing on this clothes drying rack year round. I like that it is portable and I can dry inside or out depending on the weather.
