Good afternoon, all! So, how much are you loving this weather? I am head over heels in love with it. Yesterday and today, my windows have been cracked open. Today is a tad chillier and the temp is 65 in here. But, I am not about to close these windows, so I threw on some socks and a fleece jacket. I want that refreshing earthy smell drifting through my house.

Yesterday, I got my first sale out the door.

I included a homemade clothespin magnet and thank you note along with the invoice. Nobody likes invoices, but if they include free gifts, it just takes the edge off a bit.

I found this awesome packing tape at Joann’s and was so excited to use it for the first time. I wrapped it onto the front as well, so that it would add some flair to the package.

I also finished up this bag yesterday

AND made a bib AND almost finished a new wristlet. I was finally productive for once.

One more thought. Do you ever look at your children, and you just can’t believe they are yours? I had a few of those moments yesterday where I just stared at Jaxon as he told me a crazy story that he had made up about his sister named Titsy. Yes, Titsy. I am trying to get her name changed to Tootsie, because it’s just not appropriate for a four year old. He’s putting up a fight about this name change. Ha! Anyway, I had to stop his story and grab hold of his scrawny arms and just tell him how special he is to us and how much we love him. It seems like just yesterday, I was young, and now I have a little boy who is growing like a weed. It’s just such an amazing feeling. And, I know all you moms know exactly what I am talking about. It’s sort of… surreal. But, truly, a blessing from God.

It’s a good start.

Last week, I felt weary and worn down for no apparent reason. {That I know of.} I was determined to change up my days, and make the most of the time that I have. Create priorities and in turn accomplishments. This morning I spent 25 minutes on the elliptical and in the Word. The time flew by faster than I knew. I feel a freeness in my heart, an ease of breathing. I can’t believe how much God has taught me about wisdom within the last 24 hours. It seems like a reoccurring theme. My devotions led me to Proverbs chapter 4 this morning. Check it out. It’s full of goodness. Verse 7, “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.” Pretty straightforward. Yesterday, our pastor told us that, “Wisdom only comes from a healthy intake of God’s Word.” So true, and I have been so neglectful lately.

After my beneficial time with God this morning, I felt the need for fresh air and sunshine. Carter was down for a nap, so we ventured out for a bit.

We found green!

And we shook our winter blues from our systems.

{I can see myself in the sleepiness of his eyes. I love it!}

Stones were thrown.

And hands were held.

The snow has finally melted off of our Florida seashells. I need to find a pretty dish or vase to put these in. They make me happy, because who can’t be made happy when reminded of the beach?

Today I have a new diaper bag to finish.

And, I have my first Etsy sale to mail! It’s a bittersweet feeling, getting rid of a bag that I have looked at for a month or so now. I feel a bit attached to it. But, am more than happy for the sale! Woo hoo!

I hope that you have a wonderful Monday and that God will shine down on you like He has for me.

These Two Things

I have felt so tired the last couple of days. Not feeling so bloggish. Today, I crawled into the kids tent and took a minute to rest my head on a pillow while Carter entertained himself by swatting at the sides of the tent. So, since I am tired and out of much to say, there are two things I am certain of that I would like to share.

#1:

I have the two cutest sweetest kids ever {I know, yours are cute too}

in spite of the messes that they are constantly making.

And #2:

He severely needs a haircut!

Pottery Barn Inspiration

I feel like the last couple of posts have only been about design. And, I’ll just tell you now, that this one is heading in the same direction. So, for those of you who wonder if I still take pictures of my kids, here’s your answer.

Now, on to the design part of this segment. Today I opened my mail box only to find a half rolled Pottery Barn magazine peeking out at me from behind a few bills and a newspaper. I ran inside and made myself comfy. Here are a few of my favorite items and inspirations.

I felt a definite trend as I flipped through the crisp pages. Vases and pots on every surface of the house filled with spring flowers. Something I would love to implement in my house.

Lovely!

I pretty much love everything about this staging. It’s even the color of my great room! I’m wanting more natural elements introduced in my home. I love how those stones are just placed atop those lovely carved boxes.

Bird-like products are all over this magazine. This is one of my favorite!

These would pretty much be the perfect barstool for my island. Blue, green, or white would be my pick. When I have an extra $800 (ha), I’ll give it some serious consideration.

I love how these wire baskets look nothing like perfection and yet are perfection. And, you can’t tell in this picture, but they are fairly large.

There are about a gazillion places in my house that would suit this table. Hmmm…this is simple enough, maybe hubby could make me one.

Hope you enjoyed more design today. Sorry if it’s stifling you. I have not had time to wax poetically, but really have I ever waxed poetically?

Amy Butler Rugs. Huh, what? Am I the last to know?

Have you all been holding out on me about the Amy Butler rugs? I had no idea she had rugs. Some of them are replicas of my favorite fabrics.

I am so sad to say that I can’t afford any of them.

But, if I could, the one below would very well be my pick for my living room.

On a more personal note, Carter pulled himself up in his crib for the first time. It’s so cute to see him venturing out and discovering more. Can’t believe my baby will be one soon. *Tears*

Within the next couple of weeks, we will be finishing our basement. I am starting to feel that twinge of anxiety over paint colors and drapes. I need to start researching now, or else, the day will come for paint, and I will be sobbing at Lowe’s, unable to make a decision. We are trying to compromise, and go for a bit of rustic modern. While we watched a super boring movie last night, I started my quest for inspiration.

West Elm has the best side tables.

Totally rustic. Perfect for hubby’s liking. But yet, West Elm knows how to makes these items not look like you are in a log cabin. They are refreshingly modern. Don’t get me wrong, I will not be spending money and actually purchasing these tables, but my man is a craftsman, and he can build just about anything.

The walls in our basement are severely large, and a mural like this, would be insanity. But, as I lay in bed last night, I found myself conjuring up a couple of large paintings that could mimic this. Time to throw down some drop cloths and begin.

I, unfortunately, did not stumble upon any amazing living rooms that I could freely mimic. If you have seen any that would fit into our rustic modern theme, please, please, please, throw them my way. I need some fabulous inspiration!

I just finished watching Julie and Julia. Loved it! Especially with my new found love for cooking. I will talk about that another day.

Coveting Craft Rooms

Last week, I showed you a few pictures of my laundry room/sewing room. While mine is functional, and I am grateful for it, there are a few out there in Blogland that make my eyes glaze over, and I can’t seem to move for hours. This first one is graced by Heather Bailey herself. So, no wonder it is marvelous.

I would never think to paint my walls pink, but it is totally what makes this room work. Maybe someday {with my husbands approval} I will venture into the world of cotton candy.

This dresser in the middle, set like an island, pulls at my heart. It pairs lovely with the pink walls.

Eventually, our bonus room will become craft central around here. I am hoping to maybe even start a community craft club that meets once a month. All this to say, I need to start bookmarking these lovely spaces, so I am ready to decorate when the time presents itself.

Half the charm is all of those awesome organizers. Man, I love that kind of stuff, but can never get myself to buy them. Milk or magazine holders? Priorities, people!

Orange, blue, and brown, I heart you!

The pegboard is a genius idea, and those dowels for hanging wrapping paper and ribbon are just so beautiful to look at.

I could probably go on for hours and hours, but I guess the reality is that we have preschool today, so it is time to get around and get ready.

A Roarin’ Fun Time

Yesterday was my love’s 28th birthday.

He warned me that there better not be a bunch of people over when he got home. {He’s not big on surprises or birthday’s really.}

So, I called back about 50 guests and told them the party was cancelled. I did however, neglect to call a few of our most dear friends. Because, what’s a party without friends?

Marty was a tad shocked when he walked through the door, but shortly thereafter, was yuckin’ it up with Haddie the dog and Peanut the penguin. We ate BBQ chicken quesadillas followed by brownies.

I was hoping to have some brownies left over for breakfast in the morning, but some of the guests (not naming any names) had a larger appetite than others.

All in all, it was a heck of a party, and we said three cheers for the most amazing man in our lives.

Happy Birthday Babe! I love you more now than ever, and we are so lucky to have you! XOXO

Snowflakes a Fallin’

After a few days full of sunshine last week, I felt myself daydreaming about my windows being lifted and feeling a soft breeze as I wander around my house, occasionally stepping on a matchbox car or two. And then, it began to snow again.

It hit me smack dab in the face and said, “Hello doll, did you forget where you live.” Oh that’s right, we could still have snow up through Easter. Cute plaid shorts for the boys, and a fancy little sundress for me paired with snow boots and mittens, could and should often be proper Easter Sunday attire around here.

I’m feeling stifled in here. I need to open windows. I need fresh air. I need warmth and sunshine. Is that too much to ask? That’s my little vent for the moment. I’ll stop.

In the mean time, while I’ve been sitting around daydreaming about spring, I listed two more items on Etsy.

This would make an awesome diaper bag, considering it has not two, not four, but FIVE pockets inside.

Ah, and wouldn’t your little sweetie look just dandy in this ruffled bib?

I think my designs are obvious proof of my need for a baby girl. Wouldn’t you agree?
