Yesterday, I picked up a couple of nightstands at the dollar store. Yes, I said the dollar store. 9 buckaroos each! I am like my mother, and for some reason, need stacks of books beside my bed. You never know which one you might want to pick up and read (not that I really have time to read). This of course, even though they are stacked neatly, looks cluttered. I was in need of a solution. The nightstands I found have magazine/book racks and an additional shelf at the bottom, perfect for a few magazines ( I also have a magazine obsession). They were also the perfect dark chocolate shade to match our vanity in our bathroom. (Fake wood always looks more expensive when it is dark.) This seems to be the perfect fix for the moment.

This piece of furniture works double duty as a desk by day, and a nightstand by night. I just love the mix of styles in this room. The rustic nightstand paired with the retro chair, and the clean lines of the bedding make it all work quite nicely. This look isn’t for everyone, and some would say that the desk looks junky, but I just love it.
