Saturday night was the final celebration of 4 years of Jaxon.

The theme was pirate, and as I was about to take  an abundant amount of time making a treasure chest, I looked out my window and saw all of our findings from our trip to Florida. A piece of drift wood washed up on the beach and countless shells served as the perfect centerpiece. Sea urchins and a couple of crabs even made their way into the party. Needless to say, that was all taken out shortly, as it began to stink up our house.

I had aspirations to make Jaxon one of those cute appliqued shirts with his age on it. As you can probably guess, I made this the morning of his party. I’m beginning to see a trend in myself and, it’s not looking so good. Possible New Year’s resolution? We’ll see.

I had fun making this and was somewhat pleased with the way it turned out. My zig zag could use some work, but hey it’s only my first project like this. If you’re willing to give this a try, there is a great tutorial over here at Michael Miller. And, while you’re at it head on over to Michael Miller Fabrics. Don’t forget to wipe up the drool before your husband gets home.
