Appreciation

Exhausted is a really good word for how we’ve been feeling lately. Not only are we tired, but it also is much darker when it is time for Marty to get up in the morning. Which I know makes it almost impossible to climb out from under the covers. After feeding Carter this morning around 6, I looked out my window and saw the moon in all it’s glory. At 6! Summer flew by and now Fall then Winter will be quickly approaching.

After Marty hit the snooze for about the 4th time this morning, I slipped my hand into his, and watched as he slowly began to stroke my hand with his thumb. I knew it was a wordless, “I love you.”

I laid there thinking about how grateful I am for his hard work every day. He is so tired, and I’m sure would much rather stay in bed for a couple more hours, but instead, he gets up and does his best every day. He is our provider. I can’t imagine the stress that comes along with that position. I am thankful that he takes on this task with vigour every day.

Do I think he’s doing exactly what he wants to be doing for the rest of his life? No, most definitely not.  But, I do know that he is doing it for us, so that we can be in a warm house full of fruit snacks and diapers. I do hope and pray that someday, he will be doing something completely fulfilling and rewarding. I am positive that God has special plans for his life, because Marty is an amazing man with such a big heart to serve others. A heart like this should not go to waste, but utilized to it’s full potential.

Today, I am overcome with thankfulness and hope for our future.

P.S. I love you, honey.
