I spent the  majority of my morning neglecting my children and house, so that I could put together this advent calender. Yes, I realize it is the 3rd already. I’m a little late.

I wish I could tell you that I came up with this all on my own, but that would be lying. I barely can find time to take a shower, let alone muster up enough time to design an advent calendar. Here are the instructions.

This was super easy. It ended up taking a little longer than I thought once I made the envelopes, punched the flowers, wrote the numbers, and put everything together. But, it was worth every second. I used scraps of paper that I had, so I didn’t end up putting any money into this, which made it even more lovely.

As Jaxon opens each envelope, he will see a fun activity written inside, and may even find a piece of candy or a sticker. I wrote down things like, make a tent, sing Christmas songs, and make a snowman out of play-do. I even threw in a couple of lessons such as, be ye kind one to another, patience is a virtue, and pray for one another. I put little magnets on the back, so that it could hang on my fridge, and would not be forgotten with the hustle and bustle that the holidays bring.

I would also like to take a quick moment to make mention of the fact that my husband is a wonderful cook, and I am ever so grateful. This is what we ate last night.

And, it was amazing. I don’t know why I even bother. I just can’t compete.

P.S. As I was thinking about how much I love this calendar, I began to think that these would make great gifts to give next year (obviously before December 1st.) Little thoughtful notes could be placed in the envelopes or inspirational quotes and scripture could be written on the inside as you flip one open each day. Just a thought.
